Georges de La Tour (1593–1652) was a French painter.

Life
A known principles in George de La Tour's life begins within 1620 when he established his studio in Luneville, painting religious and genre scenes. He was given a title "Painter to the King" in 1639 and affluence followed.

Works
He was known better for his nocturnal lightly results & simplified form painting. One of his best known works, Education of the Virgin, is displayed at The Frick Collection in New York.

Although his initial act was executed around the Mannerist style, he later showed influence of Caravaggio. La Tour's function went unrecognized when his demise around 1652 but was rediscovered by a German scholar inside 1915.
